hi everyone , just looking for a bit of advise as i dont know if ive done this right or not ,
my 1999 diesel freelander 2.0 had a horrible sounding rattle from the thrust bearing so me being me and trying to save a bit of cash went and bought myself a new 3 piece clutch from ebay ( probably not the best place to buy car parts i know)
anyways ive gone for the change and its took me 3 days to do it , ive put it all back together today and hey presto its quiet as a mouse
HOWEVER now im really struggling to change gears whilst driving it i have to put quite a lot of pressure on the gearstick to make it enter which leaves me coastting for a while before it will drop into any gear ,
reverse now crunches eveytime i change into it,i neveer has any problems before with any gear apart from reverse as it used to sometimes grind when i engaged it but now its worse !:)
i used an alignment tool and everything and worked methodically as i changed it.

on the slave cylinder theres a small rod which moves in and out and when i came to put it back together the rod seemed to be hanging out more than usual so ive just pushed it back in place ,
( dont know if this is anything to do with it but im trying to let you all know just exactly whats happened ,

any help would be extremely appreciated

also my biting point in as soon as the pdal moves a slight bit there isnt any play whatsoever i lift 1-2mm and im moving allready

Most likely clutch not fully disengaging when pedal pressed

thanks for the reply , what could be causing it ?? i dont know where to go from here :(

Is the release lever free?
Did you lubricate the bearing slide and release lever shaft with moly grease before reasonably?
Is the slave cylinder bracket flexing when the clutch pedal is pressed?

I would be double checking that you got the slave cylinder mounted right first....... And the bracket it mounts in isn't damaged.

It's also possible that the slave cylinder has over extended whilst off. I always cable tie all rover group slaves of this type when doing a clutch, To prevent this happening.
