Hi all, I’ve just replaced the clutch and slave cylinder on my 2012 freelander 2. I’ve bled over 500 ml through, now I can’t get reverse with the engine on. When I start the engine in reverse, I’m getting a strong burning smell but does reverse back. Any advice would be great

Clutch plate in the wrong way around would be likely

What make of clutch kit did you buy? Cheap and nasty or something like LUK?
I did the clutch in a Freelander 1 and the master cylinder failed when I tried to bleed it. Not sure why but it needed changing too.

Sometimes reverse bleeding is needed to clear out all the air in the system.
