Completed a compression test on freelander 1.8 and all cylinders are 14 bar or just over. Noticed oil level is slightly over the max. I believe they should be at 12 bar max. Has anyone the correct reading I should be getting.
I will be draining the oil and re doing test. Thanks Bri:blabla:

why ,the thing about compression test is comparison rather than exact reading should be done dry then wet ?(oil sqirted down bore to seal rings ) the fact they are they are the same is good

Yeah I know there should not be 10 % difference. Just with oil slightly over max, thought this may be giving me false readings. Cheers for reply

if oil was high enough for piston to hit it con rod/piston would be damaged, even high oil level is still not above sump level unless you put 2-3 gallons in

you pressurise cylinder with air and measure its leakage rate ,you can tell where leakage occurs ie through valves,or into coolant etc
