Stan - Ha , thats the kind of nitpicky I like! But I have no effing clue! I don't think so, looks like gouges caused by having no selector yoke bush in there for yonks. but you could be right, and of course I am worried now, so thanks for that :D

gouges can be welded up then ground smooth with angle or bench grinder, its the reverse switch that causes it and eventually the wear stop the switch working
numbers written on parts are generally superceded in the yokes case to ftc4622 though you only need cage and snap ring,ill have some secondhand parts and yokes if you struggle finding them
 
Thanks for that. Not sure what you mean though when you say i only need 'cage and snap ring'. if you mean the yoke selector bush and snap ring, I have those. But the wear on the nipple (squared off instead of round) and the other wear concerns me. But it maybe shouldn't. Maybe I am better asking the question...

If I just file the nipple a tiny bit, just enough to make a it a bit more rounded where its worn square, and replace bush, will it drive nicely again?

I have no way to know how much difference it would feel on the gear change between the two options:

A) file and replace bush
B) replace whole yoke with new

If you have a yoke and its in better nick than mine I might buy one from you, is it easy for you to check if you have the same yoke as mine there in good usable nick?

Better pics may help. Nipple below, if anyone knows how to replace that I would be grateful for a hint. No idea how it is removed or new one fitted.



This shows wear better, I see now (thanks jamesmartin). So that has worn against the reverse switch, just went and looked and i see that switch now, didnt notice it before.
Important question is, is this worn enough that it should be replaced or not? (I dont have a welder, it went bang a while back)
 
PS if anyone in the know reads this and thinks I am fussing over nothing, please shout. I really have no clue, I just see wear and think it needs replacing. Never opened top of gearbox before and not exactly and engineer so no idea how much impact this stuff actually has. if not much, i could just replace the bush, file the nipple a tad and let it fly as is.

Just a reminder, unless I can find out how to replace the pin I will definitely be on the lookout for an FTC4247 if you have one. Please let me know if you get a chance to check. Thanks

ok, so friction only and I only need a hammer, no pressing tools? I have a bench vice so maybe I could squeeze it in with that to avoid breaking anything. really don't want to damage that yoke any further considering the price of the new replacements!

oh, ha, i was going to double check as I wan't sure. will get proper part number and grab a pin to play with hammer!
