Hi again, long time no post!
i am looking for a land rover club in Oxfordshire, i am 16 and dad has recently suggested finding a club where i can drive as i was looking at a £1000 RC land rover (build myself). we have a disco 2 and i would be driving that. are there any clubs in my area that would let me drive?

is the disco 2 going to be able to do a tyro (think thats what they're called, catn remember) without getting damaged as it is completely standard, still with all the under bumper crap and road tyres!

my dad isnt interested in off roading so it would just be me, but hopefully he might catch the bug!!:D

Thanks People!

Most of the pay and play sites still require you to be of driving age, or to have a driving licence for their liability insurance - that's not to say you won't find somewhere, but you might have a longer search than you're anticipating.

dont know of any clubs in oxfordshire. the wiltshire and dorset club run RTV and CTV events. you may get away with driving pay and play at minety 4x4.

Minety 4x4 - Home Page

they are based just north of the M4 a little west of where you are. i know that you could get your old man to pay and then switch places when your out of sight. the site follows a long route through woods and stuff.

anyway, as adz says you will need your licence. but if you join a club that runs trials you will be able to hop in as a passenger for a small fee. thats the best way to get you started ni trials.

i doubt road tires on a disco 2 will be any good at trials. i think tyro's are tame. RTV are more challenging and the vehicle must be pretty standard with no roll cage. CTV events are crazy and require lots of mods inc. roll cage.

i suggest you concerntrate on passing your test and save up for a 90 truck cab. then enter RTV events.
