Clarion Stereo Problem

My drivers side door - speaker and tweeter has been off dor some time now.

If the weather holds I'm going to tackle it this weekend.

Before I take the door card off are there any common faults that would take a whole door out from a stereo point of view ?

If it's an high line radio which it should be if Kardom there are outstations and speaker amps in each door. Low and mid range radios just drive straight from radio. The Diversity does not have any speaker amps in the radio itself.

If you remove the locator on the ten pin plug at the rear of the unit, swap it round and see if the no sound channel moves. Of course put it back after testing, if it doesn't then it's either the connector in the footwell or in the door

As it was bloody freezing last weekend - I didn't tackle this job.

But thanks for this feedback Davie - If the weather holds I will have a go this Sunday ( as long as the car is back from the 'fixers' and is no longer misfiring )

Can you tell me where the connector in the foot well is and how to access it please ?

Get yourself a copy of RAVE and look it up in electrical trouble shooting. Look at the diagrams for radios note connector number. Scroll down to connectors, select the number and look at either face view or location. Simples.

I think the swap round of the ten pin line out connector would be my first check. The connector in the passengers footwell is in the panel against the inner wing, so feet in footwell and kick to the left!
