OK bought my new purchase home this afternoon/evening and thought I'd set the DVD players up for the 2 little one's in the back, except the cigarette lighter where I need to plug it in isn't working ( know this is probably something really really simple but don't have a clue where to start. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated please.

check the centre of the lighter socket for a live,if theres no live check fuse,if the fuse is ok chec continuity from fuse box to cig lighter.:D

The ignition was on :\

Then check if u have voltage on the accessory socket in the boot.... they are both on the auxiliary relay's circuit...there is no dedicated fuse for the cigar lighter, the fuse which protects it is linked to other circuits too.

The most obvious for the cigar lighter is to have a bad contact at the plug behind it though

Thank you, I think tomorrow I best have a good look around this car n find where things are lol this could be interesting.....an accessory socket in the boot? ooeerrrr lol

Ciggy lighter feed has a joint in the loom which fails, It is about underneath and to the left of the column, wrapped in the loom tape, behind the fuses cover.

I've got to do mine when I get a minute.

OK found the accessory socket in the boot and that works, so next job will be to figure out how to access the back of the cig socket in the front )
