Chrome balls

Just had a look at some new chrome balls for my D1 front axel.
They are eye wateringly expensive.

Can they be repaired or rechromed?
£120 +vat seems just rediculous to me.

I would expect they could be.
New balls come in a black colour, well they did when I replaced my 110 ones, and they are supposed to work better than chrome.

in the mid 90s lr moved to teflon coated swivel housing,it doesnt flake off like chrome
