I have 5.13 diffs which with the correct box will be fine for 60mph as thats all I do in my disco anyway

What detroit engine you talking about? have never heard of 1000hp out of the box

thought 7.3 was ecu ? either way if a 7.4 is coming out a bigger one is going in, thats the rule

sorry meat ft/lbs I wasn't thinking, not arsed about high hp but something like 1300 ft/lbs out the box iirc

off to collect the new axles tomorrow so don't worry its being trucked! Measured up my drive too and it'll just squeeze down it

another engine may come along but I have no money for one so the 454 is safe for now, plus my chassis steel is ordered already

merlin is far too pricey

trouble is all the good stuff has been exported or scrapped

rockwells are nuts though, If I had a nice little lottery win id go out to the states and fill a few containers up with junk

These axles came off a GMC Tavern IRA truck that the MOD had rebuilt, cost me £675 all in for a Dana 70 front and two 80 rears, then say about £160 in delivery charges/fuel so not too bad really especially given the price of upgrading to a set of HD Ashfroft Force 9's

So hard trying to find decent parts in the UK, as you say a few containers from the states is the way to go. Make a fortune importing the good stuff like engines, axles and transfer boxes from there plus new parts for Chevy engines given real steels crazy prices!

Then you need a radiator and intercooler add another 5-600 pounds

Oh I know I did the research, but my chassis is the same thickness as a peterbilts at 1/4" it's being fully triangulated with a built in cage and having some extra diamond plates welded in along its length and the springs/axle/hydro steer will cope with the weight.

The local breaker and my mates dad have scrap trucks I can pick at for parts so that's not an issue for me getting the heavy pieces I need


It's a way off anyway, need to make the chassis first

I'm with JM its a pipe dream lots of bits some people rate bolted to a make a thing-,

The sad thing is, Dr has already destroyed a series never to see the road again. At least this latest idea will only destroy a "Thing".
