Mate, you can't get stroppy with people just because they have never come across your specific problem.
This DOES happen, not often, but then if it didn't you would have your solution by now.

How would @Smiffie feel if someone did that on his forum?
That is exactly how I felt, I read other threads where many people chipped in to try to help, even asking the obvious like "does it have fuel" However, I did not get one response even when I asked for a specific person to help, I got nothing. as for not giving specific information re- spikes or readings, I felt it was important to give "some basic information" rather than get technical, and this is because I am aware that most are not mechanics, so a reading of 120bar or a drop of 5.5 amps, or even a spike of 17.6 hertz would be understood or for that matter necessary.
I have had 50 years working on all manor of cars and I knew what to look for, but when it was not obvious I thought I would ask as we are all learning, but not all are willing to help, and I am now beginning to understand that mindset, so you see I am still learning.
From all my previous post in this forum you will agree, and by the sounds of it, some will even complain, that I have given too much information, this should show, that if anything I am prone to giving too much information and that would follow that I am only too happy and prepared to share the information that I found. Right up until Mr Grycolus thought it right to have a little pop. Getting old doesnt make a person grumpy, or unwilling to help, it makes them tired of putting up with other peoples stuff.

But when asked for proper "car people" numbers/measurements you gave nothing, but spat your dummy, so who was willing to help?
Everyday is a school day, but if nobody shares we will all struggle. So what group are you in. Sharing, or knowledge is power?
You decide I don't own a D4 so it would only be info in my head somewhere for future to point somebody to a thread/member who may know/help.

If you have been working on cars for 50 years then you are about as old as I am.
Being old gives you no special rights.
I'd have thought you would have known, from your own forum, that patience and a sense of humour is a requisite on any forum.
Graculus may be keen on getting as much info as possible, as are some of our other experts, but it doesn't make their knowledge something to be sniffed at. If anything it means they are likely to give you a quicker and more accurate answer.
Being touchy really doesn't help and I can fully understand why others haven't come on to help even if they possibly know what the problem is.
So, was it a madly impossible, or nigh on impossible to find, fault?
Or did you overlook something basic and simply dare not say so?!

You have quoted me out of context. The full context is "How would Smiffie feel if someone found the solution to their problem then deliberately withheld it, on his forum." Which you did not answer in your post after quoting me.
You are now acting like a politician. Trying to score points, by misquoting or quoting out of context. So I suggest you grow up, and I am out.
