Hi All
The front tyres on my hippo are in need of a change in the near future, I went to Cost Co today & they told me I need all 4 tyres changed cos if I just changed the fronts it would bugger the diif or gearbox cos the diameters of the new tyres will be bigger than the existing ones.
Ive got 17 " Synchrones all round at the moment, what would the panel suggest. Scorpians are round?....

You would have no problem fitting new tyres to the rear and having your current rear wheels and tyres unbolted and moved to the front.

This would use the last bit of life on your rear tyres and mean that you are only paying for two tyres rather than four!!

Scorpians are good, michelins last a good while as well.

Steve

A very good suggestion, the spare is a new Scorpian, so I would only need to buy 1 new Scorpian & fit these to the rear & put the old rears on the front. Ive seen Scorpians on MyTyres at £90 delivered.

Thanks

My spare has the wear bars showing and I keep it this way as it deters theives from pinching it. Its got enough tread left to get me home from anywhere in the UK.

Land rover state (and Haynes copied / verified) that new tyres should always go to the rear to keep the transmission happy. (dont want to upset MING or Grunt, but thats what the manufacturer states)

I had a pair fitted to my rear axle last December, I'm now finishing off the front tyres (down to about 3mm) and plan to buy a matching pair which will be fitted to the rears and the rear wheels and tyres moved forwards.

Hopefully I will have 5 tyres the same and not 5 different manufacturers when purchased.

Regards,

Steve

You have you've gone an upset me.....There I'm over it now.

Any how I'd put em on the front cos of the offroading bit I mentioned and also cos a Tracters transmission is so hard it dunt need to be kept happy.

reet lits clear this up fer once un fer all time, , , ,lr sis put best tyres on rear. . . .ming sis this is poppy cock . . . .mings logic= fronts always wears furst . . .un soo if from new fronts is say 15% worn more then rear , then swop em round ,then over time they will become = un after thet fronts agin wear more till aboot 15% then swap em agin. . . .makes sence ,yes,no?. . . .un it wunt make any difference to windin up gearin or any other stoopid house wife tales. . . . .but if yer have say one set 50%worn more then tother, then that is a different story. . . .here endeth the lesson. . . . . . .:D :D :D
