Wanting to fit central locking as at the moment I have to unlock each door on their own.

Not bothered about it being remote central locking, just all the doors opening when I open the driver's door would be good enough.

Could someone point me in the right direction please? Have done a search but could only find Freelander stuff.

Anyone have any experience with their Disco central locking?

Thanks!

What have you at the moment ?

I have to lock-unlock all doors on my defender using keys and use remote on the disco, I think you just get use to what you have!:)

It's a Disco 1, have to lock individual doors wit key, haven't got a fob

Some D1 don't have the central locking facility fitted, if yours has but it doesn't work check that you have a 12v supply at the ECU also central locking with the key is via a micro switch behind the drivers door lock, the switch may be faulty or it's operating cam broken which is not unheard of. :)

Are u able to set the alarm/immobiliser as that also works via the drivers door key? ... again if this facility is fitted.

I had the door card off the tailgate when I first got it as the lock had become loose and wouldn't close properly.

There was a little black box with wires connected to the lock, would this be it?

Haven't removed any other door cards, guess I should have at least had a look!

I've only got 2 basic keys for it with no fobs, one to unlock doors and one to start it, is it normal to have different keys for doors and ignition?

Not usually, do you have a small metal tab with a number on, on the key ring ?

What year is your D1 ? 200 or 300TDi or what?

Nope no tab, nothing on the ignition key, and the door key reads Silca Italy on it and NE 38 on the other side of it

It's a 1993 200tdi

Yes that's it.

Have you checked to see if the fuse has gone? Sounds daft but this was the case in the last disco I bought. The seller said "central locking doesn't work"...he hadn't thought of checking the fuse

I remember it being very similar (sorry bad memory).

It was connected to a thin pushrod which when I moved up and down it would lock/unlock.

I think I'm answering my own question here :) If this is the said mechanism, would it take much to get it back up and running?

Ahh you mean if the fuse is at fault, replace and central locking will work with drivers door? Sorry I've got remote fobs on the brain!!

I haven't checked the fuse mate no, I will check it tomorrow for sure!!
