Just installed me new CB, Midland 278 and Springer with a snail mount just below the rear roof line (Gift from work for 10 years servitude!):D

All seems to have gone remarkably well, with an SWR of about 1.25 straight off the bat.:)

Q: Not sure which frequency I should be on? I'm set up on the UK frequency, but have read about 4x4 folk using EU or EC as there is less 'traffic'. Helpful advice appreciated.

if your in the uk use it on uk simples

In the UK there is only 1 legal way - UK, hence why people find less traffic on the other 40 unlicenced channels. Have a quick listen to UK19 and you'll soon find out why, the calling channel is always full of idiots who don't know how to turn their channel knob to anything else once contact is established!

Normally though you'll find 38 other channels completely empty!

A number of lads up our way use channel 10 when we're off roading, probably cos they use 10 at parkwood/tong.

but its whatever really, ch19 is good if you want to numb your mind for a bit, otherwise pick a channel and stick to it on days out etc.

cheers

Hi there. I had a similar question recently. Went to my local CB shop worried as my CB didn't seem to work properly. Turned out to be a faulty mic. The guy there noticed that my set was a mid-band one, normally Euro band (not switchable to UK band). Apparently completely legal here, but offers much cleaner signal and slightly longer range.

Hmmm that would be cos no other ****er is using it. UK channels are usually used for UK off road/green laning. We use channel 6 in Herts and I think the northerners tend toward channel 10.

The term "flicking" has never been more appropriate as has "search and ye shall find!"

if your up in leeds stay clear of 19 its full of numb nuts playing music the best channels around leeds harrogate and york are 23, 32 34 and 35 there usually the farmers channels if your looking to lighten up your day there the lads that will do it... channel 40 is usually full of tipper drives and i believe this is the case throughout the uk.... the ugly duck runs on 15, 19 and 33 if your need a radio check traffic check anything im always on the air. oh and channel 9 is your emergency channel not used much these days but respect it anyway and keep it clear.

Was sat in disco today listening to 2 numpties having a convo on channel 9.. Told em 9 was reserved for emergency use and one daft twot told me "channel 9 is default chat channel mate"

 he didn't like been told what a fick fooking ****er he was..

you always get some dick on the cb either playing music or clogging up 19 and 9, we've got the problems of big amps in leeds everyone is kicking out about 1000 watts so you cant speak at all really bad.....

Not been on the CB for years, living in Leeds and right next to Seacroft there was plenty of numpty's, but from what I do remember we had some good laughs driving about and meeting various people.

I remember one lass called Sweet Kisser, sounded like an angel but once we eyeballed I was like :wtf: and this image is very fitting :lvkiss-106:
Nice lass as it goes just not the best looking ive ever come across lol.

Don't ring any bells, but tbh We used to meet that many people it's possible.
My sister met a guy on the CB and they are still together now 17 years later.
I'd get another but the mrs would kill me as it caused some right old ding dongs with people winding each other up.
