i gotta say though there is no excuse for drivin somet like that ... was out in disco last week with my 5 year old lad, he says " dad somets wrong with jeep i can hear a knockin noise" i already new wot it was (strap had broke on jack under the bonnet) so point is if my 5 year old son can . . . . . . . . . . . .

yeah i know he says always towing trailer full off ****e. but surely not all the time wot bout when ya done fencing lol nowt in trailer

The work has been done, nothing you say will make me do anything different, like I said, why buy a dog and bark yerself.......

My car is looked at twice a year, you and the other sanctimonious brothers are more intent on making me the villain, when its obvious from the fact that I am not only having the stuff it failed on but also the advisory stuff done that I am interested in doing the right thing. If things go wrong with the Disco again at the end of the summer when I get it serviced then it will go and will be replaced with a Hilux or Rodeo...........

If you know nothing about how your vehicle works why not ask your mechanic if you can watch what he does? Ask him for some pointers.

I am currently struggling to understand why you're a member of this forum? You aren't wanting to maintain your vehicle, you aren't willing to take criticism. What do you want?

I have no problem helping people with their vehicles as long as they are willing to help themselves.

Many other people on this forum are also happy to help others. We do this FREE OF CHARGE. Some do this verbaly, some will pop around and help in person.

My point is that if you want to learn to help yourself the knowledge is here on the forum. Calling everyone sanctimonious pricks isn't gonna win people over.

Unfortunately Si this is the case. The worrying thing for me is the fact that I have been out to a fair few vehicles in the last month or two that haven't been serviced for 3 or 4 years. If this credit crunch has only been going on for about 6 months why aren't/weren't people servicing em?:(

because we live in a disposable age - "if it breaks then il get a new car". the price of used cars is now so low that the cost of servicing (£300 ave for main stealer service) saved over 5 years is the cost of a very good used car. also alot of the jap/korean cars have stupidly long service intervals like 3-5 YEARS. unfortunately this leads the uninformed to believe their cars will never go wrong and things wont wear out.

02 plate jap cars with 30k miles are now as low as £1700, why service what you've got to make it last when cars like this are available?

that may well be true

but it certainly does not apply to a L reg Disco, which is what the OP owns - clearly he's not a signed up member of the disposable society

I said from the start that it was bad, I never ONCE said that I felt unfairly treated by the MOT center, maybe by the shark of a Nor**** mechanic but by the MOT center? Nope, and I never said that so don't put words in my mouth.

This isn't criticism, this is a bunch of sad sacks feeling like they need to try and prove they have bigger dicks than anyone else on the forum!

I joined the forum to learn more, and clearly I need to, but will that mean I don't pay people to maintain my car? Nope!

Your freaks need to realise something...... As I have said COUNTLESS times, this problem started because of me trusting a sly mechanic, I trusted him and it was a poor judgement, and THATS ALL I AM GUILTY OF, some of you....................... well mostly Sean the Saint, have accused me of killing people, slaying pensioners and well pretty much a kiddie killer...... yet I have NEVER had a vehicle fail like this.... yeah maybe, once on emissions, but like this? Never!

Now is that because of the way I drive it, like you said Ratty? Well I had a Hilux while we lived on the Downs in Sussex and I never had any issues, or is it the actual car?

Now lets think of that for a second.....


Now if you guys have finished being so self righteous and sanctimonious ( I wonder how many of you have had even one pint of beer and got in your car????) can we please get back to the Lego Porn because quite frankly, that interests me much more than you bunch of whinging poms!
