hi guys new to the landrover seen bought 1 as the snow is coming well that was my excuse to the misses ;))
really it is just for fun offroad but have a bit of a problem with getting it in to low and high the lever is jamed tryed to free it off but frighted of snapping the thing whats the best way to do this

thanks vorney:cool:

is this a common thig to happen like when under were do i look

Be a lever coming down the the transfer box

Can free it up from the inside if that doesnt work, take out centre console and then remove the middle piece between seats. Then open it up to grease and move it about til it moves freely.

Just depends how stuck it is

Well the above is how mine was unstuck, it had been used in high by an old disabled guy in brummieland so never saw low range or diff lock

I'll be making sure to use low once every so often just to keep it free

You push the lever towards front of vehicle to engage low range. Not towards drivers seat.

72,000 odd miles in high so it had seized

The Snatch V8 replacement I just bought had done about the same amount in low while being used by the army so it was seized in low

going to crack on with it once i have finished the welding

The hi/low works off a cable so it could be the cable that's seized or the pin that connects the cable to the gear selector you could get it up on a ramp and give it a good spray of wd40

i presume when he mentioned about having ago when finished welding it was disco 1 rod operated unlike disco 2 cable, but i suppose could have been rear chassis welding
