Went to adjust the handbrake on me Disco 1 today and tint the same as the defender so I'm at a loss.
Cant find a big nut anywhere and it annoys me cause it comes up too high.
Where is it please....??

On't drum for shoe adjustment, and under electric window switches for cable adjustment...
Aint got an adjuster on't drum, av felt all round and looked in the place where it is on the defender and there aint one (had a torch) The cable goes into the drum on the disco on the passenger side so maybe I'll look under the switches as that may be the only one.
Ta, never thought of lookin there.:)

Oh right, my 98 disco 300tdi has a bolt on the drum (17mm I think) and can get to by getting on my hands and knees at the drivers door.

From RAVE...
CHECK SECURITY AND OPERATION OF PARK
BRAKE
Parking brake adjust
1. Select a gear or ’P’ in main gearbox.
2. Chock road wheels.
3. Release parkbrake lever.
4. Remove switch panel from centre console.
5. Underneath vehicle, rotate brake adjuster
clockwise until brake shoes are fully expanded
against drum.
6. Back off adjuster until drum is free to rotate.
7. Rotate adjustment thumbwheel below parkbrake
lever until parking brake is fully operational on
third notch of ratchet.
NOTE: Cable adjustment must ONLY be
used for initial setting and to compensate
for cable stretch. It MUST NOT be used to
take up brake shoe wear, which MUST be adjusted
at brake drum.

8. Operate parking brake to settle shoes. Recheck
parkbrake is fully operational on third notch of
ratchet. Readjust if necessary.
9. Refit switch panel.

Mines is a 97 disco and it has one just a nut head sunk into the back plate, dont adjust them too much tho or it could pick up on reversing.

If your hand brake is rod operated then you won't see a nut that's only for cable operated hand brakes. Instead you will see a round rubber grommet which must be removed to adjust the brake internally.

right, this is a view looking toward the rear of my disco, the bolt head centre of pic is my adjuster
