Hi all,

Recently bought a code reader and it's thrown up a couple of unexpected codes which haven't triggered any dash lights;

1. Electric thermostat circuit fault.last occurrence-plausibility
2. Camshaft position sensor fault bank 1. Last occurrence-plausibility

My thoughts were to get the cam sensor out and give it a good clean at first - is this a big job and I am right in thinking bank 1 is passenger side?

Re the thermostat fault, thinking of changing it?

Any ideas or tips guys? Really appreciate it thanks!

What's this code reader ?

Cheapo readers that fit a lot of different cars often don't work or don't work very well with the range rover as they are quite specific on diagnostics equipment

The electrically controlled thermostat heater are known to fail and cause coolant to track up the wiring loom and cause spurious faults and engine running issues.

The stat is a common fail item, so change it as a matter of course in anycase!

Engine light is only for emission control issues and misfires that may damage the cats...it doesn't illuminate on rouge sensor faults unless those sensor directly effect emissions!

Thanks for the replies guys...

It's a specific land rover reader, icarsofti930, got it mainly because it reads air suspension. From what I've seen it seems very good value and gives live data as well.

I think I'll get a new thermostat anyway and see if that works.

Re the cam sensor, pulled that out off the passenger side and it was cracked in oil! Given it a good clean now so fingers crossed that should work if not I'll get a new one.

Is bank 1 definitely passenger side?

Cheers
