Hi all, tomorrow i will e replacing my cam cover gasket. i have the replacement part but before fitting just wanted to check if i needed to do anything special. does the gasket need to be clean and dry or coated in oil or something else? cheers:confused::confused:

300tdi?

Just a smear of oil, don't yank down on the bolts too much or you can deform the cover permanently just enough to seal is all.

Watch the back edge of the seal as you put cover back on, it's easy to get it caught and gives a good oil leak.:)

Yep, much the same advice. The bolts at the back are a little awkward to get to, made me search around in my toolbox to find something that would sit on the heads easily given the space. I think from memory it was a ring spanner that did the trick for me.:)
