calibrating ride heights

Well i must say a HUGE thank you to everyone who helped me sort this problem out. I finally found there was one connection not giving continuity under the wheel arch (the middle one). When i traced the wires i found the problem immediately. Where the wires come through in to the engine compartment i coudl see loads of bare wire, frayed, toughing each other etc. I had to take the water header off to gat at everything and it was a fiddly job connecting them back again. Even the 2 wires that go to the side indicator were shot. Once i had connected them all i ran the continuity and they were all sound. The EASunlock read the fault, i cleared it and unlocked it. Turned everythingoff, unplugged the diagnostic cable from the ECU and turned the engine back on. FANTASTIC. The car rose like a fart in a bath. I WAS SO CHUFFED. If anyone else has a problem with EAS and are in my area I would be more than happy to repay your kindness and let you use my programme as I know it costs £40 around here just to get the garage to plug the cable in and tell you what the fault is, then another £40 once you have finished to clear the fault and unlock the EAS.

THANKS AGAIN GUYS

Well done Steve. All things can be done if you work logically. Also you now own a testmeter. :):):)

I found this a very useful post. I'd noticed my standard ride height being a little bit higher than previously so I've just checked all the measurements and mine are :
Access 405mm
Standard 510mm
High 540mm
I had a slight issue with the motorway measurement as the tape measure kept flapping in the wind! (Coincidentally, Officer Jennings of the Cheshire Traffic police had a slight issue with the motorway measurement).

So, I'm presuming that due to me jacking her up quite high to change the air suspension bladders recently, the settings have got a bit befuddled. I suppose I'll require Datatek's nifty lead (when he's home form his hols, of course) and the free software? Doea the software and lead allow you to "reproduce" motorway height settings?

Cheers
Tim

Thats the exact measurements that mine now are after changing the air springs.
I changed them in July and have done a few thousand miles including quite a bit towing with no problems. I have the cable and software from Keith (excellent service)-but haven't had the time to use it properly.

A strange coincidence!

Steve

Replacing the airsprings should not effect the height settings in any way. Only a sensor change would do that.

Hi Tim, I have the software and cable and you can re calibrate all height settings. They are actually in units not mm or inches so apparently you have to adjust te units then re measure. It has the ability to calibrate each individual wheel. My problem now is that I have changed the sensor and getting the same fault and height reading for the front right. I can raise and lower each wheel via the software and test the pump which all work fine.

Hello everybody, I am new here and just bought my RR 2,5 DT, P39, MY1997 two months ago. I have cahnged all 4 springs and had to change the RL sensor as well. I had the same problem as you and in my case the sensor was fitted at the wrong angle. As I got a so called "New Range Rover (Pre 97MYT) part I had great problems fitting it. After having tried with all different possibilities, with and without the supplied adaptor bracket, I had to mount the sensor fixing only one hole. What a laugh, issuing parts which are not fitable. The description that followed the kit is compleately useless as well. in my case the sensor connector and the sensor arm is app in one line (180 degrees).

I hope this will help you, I had a hard time getting everything calibrated but at the end...

Think you may have been sold the wrong sensor they changed in 1997.
