Ive posted this as a result of a little conversation elsewhere on this forum:

I live in Bulgaria, near the beach resort of "Sunny Beach" where many of you may have holidayed. The thing that makes Bulgaria so different and such a paradise for you off road guys is there are NO fences, 40% of the land is not farmed and there are no landowners as such to come out pointing shotguns at you. In short no one gives a **** if you want to go screaming about off road.

Just South of here we have the Strandja mountains and forests - these are criss crossed with tracks left by the hunters and this makes great off roading territory.

Now im going to mention Wild Bulgaria only because i nicked the photoes from there site and it seems only fair:

Summer / Winter Jeep Safari Bulgaria

I have NO CONNECTION with them at all.

Bulgaria is an amazing place regardless of the off roading possibilities - Im sitting at 8.30pm in shorts looking at a bright blue sky and the temp has just dipped below 30 deg C. The beach resorts offer really cheep beach holidays and great value but the rest of the country offers 100 x more. It is unspoilt, picturesque, hot and free from the crap like any need to actually MOT the car or stick to speed limits or have an adult driving, or stop at traffic lights etc.

I dont work for the Bulgarian Tourist board either - but have a think about coming here!

The beach near my place.

Ill answer any questions if I can!

Sais it's a jeep safari..........I have a Land Rover does this matter?

Pretty much NOTHING matters over here! There is a Gun club about 10km from here where we can go shoot AK47's - they dont even ask for your identity card or passport before handing over the gun and ammo.

Whilst I think the Qu was lighthearted it a language thing - ALL 4x4's are called "Jeep's" i.e. A Land Rover Jeep or a Toyota HiLux Jeep

if i was going to drive from germany is there any check points on boarders or any thing ?

If you go the southerly rout through Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria then im pretty sure there are not issues. The more northerly rout is a problem - however ill ask Gunter (German) who drives it regularly.

I'm, well me n the other half are off to Bulgaria in a few weeks.......sunny beach.

Well have a great time - you will be 15km from my house! The weather is very hot and sunny at the mo, 9.30 am here and the temp is 30 deg C.

Nessebar is nice but very touristy, Pomorie a few K's further down the coast is very very nice and pretty unspoilt on the coastline. Burgas (south of the airport) is a beach garden city. It has about 8km of beach boarded by the "sea gardens" which is a 8k long park that runs between the city its self and the sea. Plus lots of very good restaurants - "Happy" for sushi, "the Black Pearl" at Hotel Burgas for French, plenty of others.

The cheapest place for beer and food in Sunny Beach is "Condor" - 75p a pint for drought beer.

If you are looking to hire a car my friend "Gunter the German Hunter" hires cars out to locals and tourists and is FAR cheaper than the ones advertising in the hotels (about 35% cheaper) - PM me if you want details, or any other info!

If you are into nature go down south to the Strandja mountains - about 1 1/2 hours drive from Sunny Beach but STAGGERING scenery and lots of wild life - Tortoise, 12" bright green lizards, amazing birds, dear, wild horses, huge eagles all sorts.

Deffo worth thinking about, even if it's just the fact beers only 75p a pint

just hope they aint got breathalyzers over there :5bcheers2::rofl::rofl:

Hey,
That all sounds good, i'd be interested in the car hire.

Mate of mine has a house in Bulgaria, don't know where, but he has shown me photo's and it looks lovely.

Apparently you can get a decent dinner for about 12 Lev. Dunno what that is in real money, but my guess is not a lot!
.
I have been looking at buying a house and land in Bulgaria for a few years now.
What makes it more interesting now is, the prospective house owner doesn't need to form a company, ie, the company would own the house.
From about 2 months ago, Johnny Foreigner can buy and have it in his name now.
Just look at some of the places available for much less than £20k , it's quite amazing.
Then just hide out there for the summer.
Beats the ****ing down rain in the UK.
Ok, yes, I forgot about work, there is none there.

Gra.
