Trying to fit new rear shocks on my disco 1 . They have given two rubber bushes and three washers. I can't work out how the washers go. No instructions and the picture on the box looks different to what they gave me. I suspect the washer with the large diameter hole is for the top mount but the two other washers will only fit over the threaded part of shock absorber lower pin.

Thanks for the help Dieseldog but these ****part shock absorbers only come with three washers. There is a small washer already fixed on the pin and three large washers . Only one washer has a hole large enough to slide up the pin beyond the threaded part.
Has anyone else used these Paddocks britpart standard shocks ?.

if you havent got the cup on lower shocker mount you will need another washer

The two inner washers seat in the axle bracket and are a snug fit on the pin and keep everything tight when it is done up.

The cups James is referring to are these.

They are for special type conical bushes that squash down in them but if you are fitting normal aftermarket shocks they won't fit the pin length as the pins for those bushes are longer, if you have those fitted there are three or four spot welds in the bottom that hold them on but you could just grind them off or beat savagely with a hammer and cold chisel, depends on how bad your day was :p

But you need be in touch with your supplier to tell them you were a washer short as you most definitely need the 4 of.

Thanks Dieseldog, things are begining to make more sense now. I have just had a new shock absorber mount welded on the axle from yrm and they dont come with the cups welded on them. After much nashing of teeth and swearing I have fitted them without the cup washers even though the bushes are the conical type. The one cup washer they gave me I fitted last on the pin with the convex side against the lock nut. A simple diagram would not be too much to ask from britpart
