Evening All, I have an issue with cracking front lower shock absorber bushes on my early 90. I am currently restoring it & these were fitted new about 18 months ago, not on the road yet so obviously not had any use yet. I noticed today there are cracks in them, surely this can't be right? The shocks & bushes came from one of the main spares dealers, can't remember which, might these be cheap far east knock off's? Is this going to be an MOT problem when the time comes hopefully in a couple of months. Any reason for this to happen? Any ideas appreciated thanks.

Rubbish parts, plenty about these days as well as fakes. Not much to do now but change them.
Agreed, the annoying part about this is that they came from a reputable supplier, I tend to use only the likes of Paddocks/Island/Craddocks etc, they certainly weren't genuine but I would have thought a decent quality aftermarket.

You could change them for polys if you can get them. But you may have to buy a complete polybush kit.
Or if you can beg/borrow/ steal some old large polybushes, you could cut them out of the poly material with a sharp knife.

When fitting rubber parts I always give them a smear of red rubber grease. Don't know if it helps but worth a try in future.
Or just cover them with grease now before the MOT, look like you fitted some new ones?
