i think it is time to get some cover for me 90. so i rang Franck pickles who I'm insured with and they said "they will not recover me if iv been off road"
I'm not happy about that cos i have an off road insurance policy

so tried to ring the AA couldn't get throw, so iv asked for a call back

to save me ringing every recovery company.... who do you rate ??

the only time i need recovering is after a pay n play miss hap

Get it back to a public highway and keep your mouth shut. If you're asked then you were just a spectator.

It has to be pretty unenforceable - do they mean you've NEVER been off road, or that day, or it broke down off road, or shortly after, etc etc. What if you've been off road 4 months ago and then you broke down on the road, and the fault was related to having been off road all that time ago? etc

Fair enough if they won't venture off road to come and get you, but if you've been off road and get it back to the road (for example, someone gives you a tow) they should cover you from then on.

I imagine they would all be happy with that, but you'd need to read the details of the T&Cs

Adrian Flux - they got me very reasonable 4x4 insurance, which covers me for off road use, greenlaning, being hit while off road by non-road legal vehicles, etc...

Adrian Flux themselves are not the insurer, they are middle-men, but very reasonable in my opinion.

And yes - i did phone the insurers to double-check explicitly that "if i'm on a private off road site, and a non-road legal vehicle hits my vehicle and writes it off, am i covered?" they said "yes"!

i think the rac cover weve got covers mechanical breakdown but not accident damage.... presumable the normal comp insurance pays for recover following a road accident.

i had the AA out to me last year after i broke the 90 on a laning day out they refused to recover me as i had been laning which is apparently called a sporting accident and not coverd even though i was on a public highway,so ended up ringing a m8 with a transit recovery truk and he got me home (overweight but got me home)

The RAC should be able to cover you for this - I am sure it doesn't mention offroading. They will only do roadside recovery, so you may have to push it out of the muddy field first :D

I think their prices are fairly reasonable to take me (or just the car) home, or take me to my destination wherever I am in the UK. It also covers any car you happen to be driving.

And if you have a Tesco Clubcard, their vouchers can be used for payment - at least the could when I last did mine!!

Axa aaistance. You can only use them twice for the same fault in a year so if you have a habit of locking yer keys in yer car or leaving yer lights on you could come unstuck. You can only call em out 4 times in a year in total.

Otherwise pretty much the same standard as green flag.

well keys in car twice ring em and say car wont start, bloke arrives asks whats up point at keys and say get them for me and ill show ya. :)
