Thanks ratty. Youve just made it onto my select special favourite list. Believe me, that's a hard list to get your name on. Congratulations. :):D

No probs. if you (or your mechanic) have the time to clean up your brake calipers while doing the job, it's with giving em a luck of paint as it helps make them easier to clean in the future and that helps stop em seizing up. I couldn't find any black caliper paint near me so I now have chivvy red calipers.:D

Mmmmmmmmm, I fancy orange callipers:D

Is it better to remove the callipers completely to clean/paint? Or just scrub/steam clean them in situ?

They need to be taken off the disc in order to change the disc anyway (although the pipes don't need disconnecting). As I replaced my calipers anyway I sprayed the new ones right away from the vehicle. There's no reason you couldn't do em just hanging on the end of the brake pipe though. You can cover the other bits in newspaper to help prevent overspray. I wish I'd sprayed the the hub flanges though (they look tatty compared to everything else) so I might take my wheels off down the Bristol and west show and do it.
