I have rebuilt the brakes on my '89 110 with stainless pistons previously so I am happy with the process. What I am not happy with is the parts that i will need for a TD5

I currently have a '54 plate TD5 90 that having changed the brake pads now has leaking front calipers. I knew this was a risk as the pistons were not in a good state and despite cleaning and wet and drying as much as possible before fitting new pad they clearly do not seal.

I thought I needed part number STC201 as the pistons for this caliper but then in looking for them found two differant suppliers saying they are the opposite part. Paddocks (link) says they are from chassis number HA701010 (which is what I need) where as LRParts (link) says they will fit 110 up to 1994 and 90 from 89-94 (which is up to chassis number HA701010)

Can anyone confirm which is correct or if in fact there is no difference and both are correct because the same size piston was used throughout?

Also previously I have split the calipers to clean and replace the pistons and seals can anyone confirm that the caliper o-ring 17H8764L (link) which I have used for the 110 is also the same for the later model 90? Or if it not the same which o-ring I need?

I would also take recommendations on how to refit the wiper seal retainer ring without splitting the caliper as I have had no success previously.

I've done this job before. I wrote about it here:

Unfortunately because I haven't paid Photobucket's exorbitant fees they have put their logo all over my pictures.
Yes, as far as I know the seals between the two halves of the calliper are the same. I bought some but didn't need to separate the callipers. I didn't have too much trouble getting the outer seal retaining rings into position. I used one of those brake wind back tools of the kind which have two metal plates which can be wound apart by a screw. A bit of brake fluid for lubrication and it slipped them in quite nicely.

I'm sorry I can't remember the part numbers because this was several years ago. However the rule of thumb is that the later the 90 the more likely it is to have the larger 110 slave cylinder pistons. So I'm pretty sure that by 2004 the 90 and 110 kit would be the same. I believe the 90s carried on with the smaller rear slaves though.

I do not have a wind back tool unfortunately. But have found if you do separate them a radius arm washer is perfect for knocking them into place with a swift hammer tap.

The rears are definitely smaller, I made that mistake when I was doing the 110 and had to reorder the correct size. From everything I have seen the 90 and 110 front ones should be the same.

This link on britpart seems to imply that the reason there is a difference is that pre HA701010 the 90 and 110 were different. Afterward they were all the same as the 110 version. So hopefully stc201 is the correct part.
