bought my first 90!!

Well after a long time of reading through the site abut what to look for when buying a defender i finally bit the bullet. I have previously owned a 300tdi discovery but now am the proud owner of a 1989,landrover 90 with a 200tdi disco engine in it. Sure there will be lots more problems to follow but so far have only found the speedo not working,the drivers door lock and fuel cap lock,so all in all i'm a happy bunny!lol going to jinx myself here too and say the chassis,bulkhead and crossmember look in perfect condition!
anyway hopefully be on here a bit more in future gettting advice and fixing it,also want to start off roading too

Hey dude thats a nice 90 you got there! same year as my 110 but with the better engine. you just wanna get some new seats now, watch the rust in ur footwells and find somewhere for ur spare where it aint gonna get nicked. Enjoy it!

Well spotted sypher,been and checked it and both sides are rusted will be getting some gas for the mig in the next few weeks so will sort it asap (piccies to follow).
Had the dash off this afternoons and the speedo wasnt connected up,so cable back in it so will test drive it in the morning and see if its working,fuel cap sorted so now just the door lock to play with now.
I'm contemplating converting it to a hard to as soon as funds allow so will then mount on rear door,untill then i'll have to find an alternative?
Also am not sure what to do with the seats at the moment as they arent too uncomfortable so might just hide it with seat covers untill something better crops up.cutting corners springs to mind

Where abouts in Sussex are you? There's a local club near
Horsham.

Thanks for clearing that up mudhunter,i paid £2000,so you lot think thats reasonable or have i paid over the odds?I'm from eastborn in east sussex medusa so about an hour and a half from you i'd guess,occasionally up your way though so may see you about. I'll have a look for the club in horsham but think it will be quite a way from me unfortunately,may be worth the travelling to every now and again though
