My bonnet panel is all rusty, the striker seized and the locking mech on the slam is old and crappy. It gets clogged up and stops working.

So i'm thinking sod this, and I'll just use some bonnet pins and hoping to god it doesn't look chavvy as hell, else I'll have to go down maccyD's and get fat :( .

Ordered a stainless steel pair.. and they turn out to be chrome plated, ffs. Having a butchers about and a lot are the same. That things gonna rust faster than me rusty bonnet.

How about some of these

Aerodynamic panel fasteners from Aerocatch

I have some, they are really well made. I think Noisy uses them too on his Disco.

You had any issues with mud in them?

Yeah, they look better made. :)

I'm also tempted to go with the bonnet catch from the mod series, but I can't see how they don't rattle around and might fall out.

ive got military ones, they are spring loaded and no matter how you drive they dont come off, apart from the one exception where my mates missus drove it through a hedge and one side got un-cliped

I've got rubber bonnet catches on mine and they do the job well. My normal bonnet catch works but to show how effective the rubber catches are unless I undo them first then the bonnet won't pop open when I pull the handle. They were cheap too and easy to fit

Yeah agree with this, even my worn ones with weak springs don't come undone, they do rattle though

cheers the_wolf lr110, I do like the look of the mil ones.

I was wondering if they were spring loaded. Think they would bounce about if fitted like this?

My military catches are fitted the other way around, and I have no problems whatsoever with them like that, they dont come undone at all, even when I am trying to undo them!!

I have a 200tdi conversion in my 110, which vibrates an awful lot, and when I have the bonnet up, they dont have vibrate against it and create a godawful noise. Only when you have the bonnet up and engine running though, which hopefully wont be too often!!

I have seen the similar clamps made of rubber, but the odd ones I have seen have been very cracked and perished, and havent been fitted all that long. Think the sunlight damages any rubber, so the bonnet probably isnt the best place to mount it.

Wouldnt change my brackets for anything, they are sprung and nver come undone. I still have the catch too, as a secondary lock. I have to undo the two catches, lift the bonnet slightly, and then manually push the lever to the right to ulock the bonnet completely.

trax fit them like you have pictured, the other way round will always put them in the way when you close the bonnet.
and as pussa13 asks they did you get that shovel mount and is it any good?
