Having the blend motors replaced by the chap who advertises on ebay today.....hopefully will be able to report that it went well and the aircon is working again this afternoon!! Handy that he travels to work or home if you're Midlands based, as its really difficult to get to a stealer at the best of times, not that I'd consider the bargain £2000 they wanted to replace the blend motors anyhow!!! He's charging £340 which includes the price of the new blend motors, which were around £200.

Black RRs without working aircons were not much fun over the past few days.......

if he is as good as he says and the price is 340 all in, its got to be the bargain of the century!!!

the dealers think its acceptable to rip people off!

Good news....the guy is very genuine and good at his job- took him around 3 hours to do the blend motors and he changed a dead light behind the binnacle at the same time. If O rings had been needed, he said he would have done that at the same time and that would have been a huge saving on labour costs all round, but my O rings were done a while ago so didn't need them. Cost was £340 all inclusive and an Invoice provided. The blend motors I am pleased to say are now fully operational and the horrible open book symbol has vanished from the HEVAC display!!!! Yay!!!!! Just need to have a regas now - the tank was empty, and there's no sign of a leak......I had a regas done around November 2008, one of those Kwikfit jobs and it was working brill until the blend motors played up. Had a new condensor about 18 months ago so surely can't be leaking.....

Will be booking a major service and renewal of hoses for the RR in a few weeks, I'm really impressed with his service. He's based in Wolverhampton, but will visit any midland location inclusive in his price and its a great relief that he will do the work at your workplace or your home, as convenient for you, at a fraction of main stealer costs. He has a Rovercom-type system arriving this week as his business has now built up enough to warrant one.

If anyone wants his telephone number, drop me a PM.

:)

Yippeeee the aircons blowing freezing cold again :):) £45 regas at an independent motor workshop in Leicester as I finished work a bit earlier today and was passing them en route home - included dye and the oil and pressure test- for a brief moment in time my Rangie is ALL SYSTEMS WORKING.........long may it last!! Total cost £385 to have blends done plus aircon regassed, a tad better than the £2000 for the blends from a stealer and the £70 regas charge from some of the tyre/exhaust places.
