Just had a look through your posts, love seeing old discos fixed. To many people get the fear and scrap them.

I went through all this on mine and is now solid, tho dose need the body looking at as the paint is little fooked. Think that's a job for latter in the year once I get my engine back in.

Good luck

Spend the last couple of evenings reading through this thread.
Have to say it is amazing work you've put in. Such a huge task.
I've recently found holes in my front inner arches and sills that are going to need addressing.
As much as I'd like to buy a welder and do it myself my work commitments mean I really don't have the time to invest in getting the job done at home.

Shame really but still enjoy reading your work.

Chris.

Hi Co-Pang-Yang
Thanks for your comments. If you can, its worth getting a welder and fixing it yourself. :)

update........

got the remainder of l/h side cross member off ...

Got the crossmember r/h side off. Decided its better to have rear door off as well.

Cut out rusty and holey outrigger ? is that what its called?

Anyone made their own??

Why is the hole in the round bit , off centre??

Crappy weather so been painting bits in garage most of the week.

Today I managed to plate up the chassis ready for refitting the outrigger.............when i've made it !!!

Not the best welding, but solid. I gave the underside piece a weld inside and out.

maybe I'll grind a bit more off the bottom bit.

Like my reference notes ??

In between the rain, I offered up the cross member to see how it fits....

still got the o/s chassis mount to make. I salvaged the bottom bit off the old one, just need to fabricate the angle bit to re-attach it to the chassis.........

This 'ere body mount thing.
I've cut off the blue piece and have tidied up the yellow piece.

now, the blue bit is all one formed sheet. I've tried to make one with my limited means ...and failed.

Do you think it would be ok to make it from 3 pieces all welded together ??
I can't see a problem with that.

what do you guys think ??
