loads of red oxide while its still hot , did it on my series 2a years ago and had that landy 12 years and it was still on there when i sold it (front fuel tank and off side bulkhead out riggers) not even stone chipped .

depends how much welding you got to do
if you are not doing a lot then will be plenty dont get bigger if it will be months between uses .

As a welder, I give anything like the underside of cars a liberal dosing of red oxide or as it is now called, industrial primer..... then some gravitex followed by a spray of my secret paint

red lead primer aint whot it says on the tin - cant use lead any more.
