Hello all,
As the title says, I'm looking for a 1.8L Petrol engine, for a 2001 Freelander. I want a properly rebuilt engine with all of the upgrades, crated and shipped to Naples, Italy. Please reply with your recommendations, and thanks in advance!
Cheers,
John

It would be cheaper just to import a diesel one! (whole car, not engine) and a whole heap better.

I like diesels in general, especially my Audi TDI, but I read the LR diesels aren't any better than the Petrols anyway.

The cheapest route is clearly to get a rebuilt 1.8i. I'm looking for a simple swap I can do myself. I have free access to a garage with an overhead engine hoist and all the tools I need, so this is not going to be a tough job.

No luck so far. Turner Engineering only machines the cylinder heads for the 1.8i, they don't rebuild them. Bearmach only sells 'new' OEM land rover engines, which would undoubtedly be the most expensive way to go.

Anyone have any experience with freelanderspecialist.com ?

well, for what it's worth - a few weeks before we came up here i popped in there for some bits, and the chap took me round their workshop and test bed - ave seen a fair few engine shops in the past and this certainly wasn't a shoddy one

so in the absence of anyone else suggesting somewhere that can provide what the OP is asking for it might be worth a call to them

Which is why I said no,a rebuilt 3.9 they did lasted about 100 miles before nearly all the valve springs broke from being coil bound,Skim the heads then the deck face and dont make it up with rocker pedestal shims and it all goes wrong.
