Bell engineering ????

They say they are LR transmission specialists but don't do oil change on auto box and vcu and bearing change is done by outsider who only works evening and weekend

It's true they don't do gearboxes. They only do the easy bits.

There's several companies who will change the auto gearbox oil for you. You can do it yerself too if you read how to over ere:

I'd heard good things of Bell on here, so I was suprised that the service they offer isn't actually done by them.
Also I noted on their site they quote vcu, bearings and diff mount change as an all in service £300, but it seems that doesn't include diff mounts.
I guess the title LR transmission specialist means only special bits on special LR's
The only way I could get under a car these days is to be run over by it

I have looked at the web site. it says very plainly what they do.
I don't expect them to fit tyres or exhausts.
If they don't do what you want look else where.
don't slag them off for it.

Most garages would be able to change a vcu, fit new bearings to a vcu and change yer rear diff mounts. Normally only the 1 mount fails in the centre at the front. If yer not happy then shop around.

Oh dear, calm down now.
I didn't slag them off, I said they offer a drive in while you wait fitting service, which they don't. It's someone else 20 miles down the road who only works evening and weekends.

I just got a recon VCU and bearings from Bell. It was absolutely A1 service from start to finish. Quick responses by email to queries and good technical advice. Even returning the exchange unit was easy. Thank you Bell.

bell engineering is our small family business. The fitting service is done myself at home, rather than in the workshop which is at my fathers house. i do it on evenings and weekends so as not to tie up the main business which is reconditioning the items and for most people this is more convienient as it means no time off from work, plus at my house there are pubs, cafes and resturants in walking distance unlike my fathers. we offer a drive in fot while you wait on the units we recondition, this extended to replacing a few of the common things like diff mounts while we are at it to help people out. we arent interested in servicing cars and also over the years dropped working on the gearboxes as just not worth the hassle.

so before you start slagging off a company on a public forum for not doing the job you want, check what they actually do and get your facts right. If you dont like what we offer go else where, we have plenty of people more than happy with our service

as stated above by another post our website states exactly our services, if you want a cooked steak would you go to a butchers??? and also where does it state we replace the vcu, support bearings, diff mount and fit for £300???

Oh dear, what a touchy bunch.
I found your web page misleading. It implies you do a drive in while you wait service during business hours. If you stated the "facts" that this service is only available at evenings and weekends may help aye.
You're right, this is a public forum and as such I'm fully entitled to express my opinion and if you class that as slagging off then use another forum.
Can't be bothered with this chirlish drama and I've taken your advice and gone elsewhere.

Going by your use name I assume you are a superhero so could you please fly over today in your red underpants and Cape and lift my car so I can get under it, oh you can't fly or lift heavy objects, how misleading!! ;-)

what I have read on the landyzone about Bells has always been good as they have a very good reputation not like freelander spares up north now I know they sell rubbish vcu's because I suffered from it even got trapped out in the snow after having a "new" one from them,and being disabled and not able to walk far until a trattor recued me, for me it would be Bells everytime from now on.

Handbags at least stick a brick in them if you're going to start swinging them about

VCU would be betterer as they're heavier, but they would break the straps on cheaper bags. ound:
