Been down my local scrap site today and had my disco camper weighed and with all the kit two blokes and a full tank and 20ltr of diesel and water it came in at 3125 kg! I use it for green laning/wild camping and the occasional bit of offroading.

What's peoples opinions on the weight? It's on terrafirma +2 hd springs and shocks.

It drives fine all though a bit slow!

What does the weight plate show as it max gross weight?

I thought that disco 2's were just under 2900kg mgw:confused:

If so yer overweight if you get stopped and weighed by VOSA

ill check and come back to you on that mate. what can the do me for if this is the case? that aside is there anything i should be weary of vehicle wise? im expecting parts to wear out quicker in general due to the load.

As long as you are 5% or less over (just under 150kgs) then not a lot.

The reason for the 5% leniancy is because your vehicle weight can change when it rains, snows, gathers ice etc.

If you are over that they can prevent tou moving until you are within weight and in the worst case they can prosecute you for being overweight. Once your vehicle is 'marked' they will keep on pulling it over.

Component wise it depends on how you drive it. My 110 usually weighs in at just over 2.5 ton and in snow I often add extra ballast in the form of grit, salt, coal or logs.

I've not had any issues from driving mine well laden.

I think mine weighed in about 2400kg with no fuel or people, that's a well loaded d1.

The brakes are quite happy with the weight and that's the important part!

yarbut he had 2 fat fookers in the cab.
mgw don't include people.

Everything is included in the weigh in, all the junk, you, your dog, the leaves stuck in the scuttle panel, everything... at the end of the day you add to your vehicles weight and that will be accounted for...

I've had all manner of building materials in the back of my D1. My +2" HD terrafirma springs looked like old sagged p38 airbags until the load came off :D :D :D

Not saying it is legal but they take a fair amount of weight and still retain their breaking efficiency and speed :)
