BECKER CD DISCS - ARE THESE THE RIGHT ONES?

Hi all, I think I have found some sat nav discs. doesn't matter that they are out of date.

can anyone let me know if they look the same as the ones any of you have for your freelander, mine is a 2004 car.

I think that money would be much better spent going towards a TomTom with lifetime update - The old Satnav is way out of date and pretty poor - even if the disk works - which mine doen't

Mine are 2005 disks and look pretty much the same, except that the pictures are slightly different and at the bottom of the disk it says NAVTEQ - Customer services, not; Navigation tecnhologies, Customer services.
Personally, I quite like the system; it's a bit fiddly to use and the maps are incredibly out of date, but on old roads it works just fine. ps: mine has two disks, one for the uk and the other, as in the ebay picture, for Western Europe, as far as I can remember without going out to the car and having a look.

There is someone selling 2015 satnav discs for a tenner on a few of the fb groups.

Some weeks back I did take a chance and brought a 2015 disk off a guy on Gumtree, it was advertised a disk for a Freelander 1, and although I messaged the guy to make sure it would work, which he confirmed, obviously it didn't, but he did at least refund me promptly. Land Rover and the Becker site both advertise a 2009 disk, for an exorbertant sum, but I believe it is still based on the old 2005 maps.

The Becker unit fitted in a Freelander was also fitted by Ferrari and Porche, it's possible a third party is producing map updates for the posh folk.

I have wondered about that, and if true, and if anyone actually discovers a reasonably priced up to date disk that works, I for one would be interested. Unfortunately, I think I've already wasted too many hours searching the www for one, without any luck.

Me. I'd not bother wasting time with the thing. I'd use it as a radio/CD player or rip it out completely and replace it with something better, using a Garmin nav on a screen mount. Or fit a double din unit in the space that has a touchscreen and modern 3D nav built in.

That is probably the most sensible option, and I do have a standalone satnav and a couple of satnav apps on my phone, but I can't quite bring myself to give up entirely on the Becker. Besides, I do like the sound and the quality of the radio reception; it actually pulls in more stations than any of the radios in the house, but I am in a bad reception pocket.

They look identical to the ones I had for my 2004 Freelander, as you say though, they are out of date!
