What should i ask about? I've read all about VCU and tippex test, etc. but grateful for any advice specifically about the high mileage Di...

First thing is to edit the page as the link comes up with a post code which is probably yours. Always key in another postcode when linking to autotrader. As for the car, info is very sketchy but it's worth looking at for that price. The L-series diesel is well capable of many more miles, just the usual engine checks e.g. smoke & make sure the turbo works. These engines do have a cambelt which is expensive to replace unless you're DIY capable so make sure you know when it's due. Make sure that the seller hasn't removed the rear propshaft to disguise any transmission problems & then tries to claim it was "done for economy". A quick check for the VCU is to reverse the car on full lock. If it needs lots of revs & wants to stall then it's goosed. If it just feels like the handbrake has been left on a notch or two but not fully then that's normal. Listen for knocks whines & check the wear on the tyres. unusual or scrubbed wear patterns are not good news. Check all electrics & make sure the warning lights light up & go out on start-up. Do all the usual checks you would when buying any car & good luck.
