Yeah not cheap. I have their fuel filter housing which is brilliant quality, im sure thise will be the same.

Main feature as I mentioned no need to cut the top hose to install a new temp gauge + this one will never fail

The GORE housing is one sexy bit of kit!!!

Got some TDCi rear door seals too after seeing them on a mates 110 with TD5 doors. They fit! Doors are a little harder to close, will have to adjust the lower hinges to sort that.

Also worked out why my rear carpet is constantly wet. Drilled out the old pop rivets and abouy half a pint of water came out!

Had a play in Bures Pit on Sunday which was a good laugh! However I couldnt help felt let down by my tyres (285/75/16 Cooper STMaxx with roughly 28k on them, so fairly worn now)







Had a few attempts later but still didnt make that hill or a few others. Where as a mate in a 300tdi with newer 35" X3s managed it fine! Which obviously annoyed me

So with getting a second car for work looming Ive been thinking about getting a second set of tyres and doing some more proper off roading!

Would I be better off getting a more extreme tyre around the same size (33") or going one size up to 35"?

So far choices are, on a new set of steel wheels just for the more extreme off roading. Id keep my STMaxxs for road use and everything else, replace like for like when they need it.

Seeing as the "new" arches I bought turned to be a very poor fit I thought I'd give Bowler arches ago, (repro ones, not gen Bowler!)

They would be paint matched Epsom Green and secured with M4 Button Heads. I wouldnt trim the inner arches until I was 100% certain however.

The new arches sit roughly 10mm wider than the tyres, so isnt as wide as they appear. The front arch will need trimming to fit round my rock sliders, thats why it's not sitting level. I also want to keep my side repeater so won't be installing above as per the Bowlers.

Bonuses are that the arches will keep the muck off the sides more efficiently, tyres wont knock the arches anymore on full artic, hides the damaged/rotten/hole ridden/mis coloured inner arches.

Will be combined with Equipe 4x4 Challenge rear corners as well, without the bumperettes & lightguards.

Just test fit for the minute to see how I feel about them. Not sure if they make it look OTT or not.

They look very wide.
When you compare the profiles from the front photo view the old ones look better.

How flexible are the bowler style ?
Would they bend on trees taps

Yeah head on, does look very wide! Mates got some 40mm spacers im going to try.

Very flexible ABS, so not worried about them breaking

Also helps should I decide on larger tyres lager in the year. Possibly 315/70/16 but some research first!

Or you could extend the side steps to protect them

Yeah, see what you mean. Im not 100% but not sure I will be until they are fitted in position and painted.

As for width, the lower part of the arch sits inline with the sliders, then widens toward to top.

As you can see, not actually that wide!

Had another look. Without wider/larger tyres or wider spacers (neither of which I really want) the bowler arches just wont look as good as they could!

So returned and bought some TF arches to replaces my damaged ones!

Reverse switch went main loom had been rubbing against it... reinforced the reverse switch with some pet tape and conduit. Should last a hit longer!

While in there sprayed the tranny tunnel with Buzzwelds nee WAR sound proofing, probs wont do much but every little helps! + siliconed it back im place. Keep the wind and water out!

Also retrofitted TDCi door seals, bit of silicone here and there but they make a good fit and a huge improvment over the old ones.

Fitted Equipe 4x4 challenge rear corners today, bit scary cutting the body off the they do look good!

I was going to tear the rear 1/4 off sooner or later, this way its tidy!

Some of the rivnuts failed and the button heads cammed out

So will replace shortly with just new button heads and a nyloc on the back, serves me right for trying to be fancy Will also weld a lil square over the open xmember hole. After cleaning it out of course!

They where also coated with 2K FXLiner as the powder coat was rizzla thin!



Also sprayed the new TF arches which are currently drying in the garage. They will be trimmed to suit the challenge corners.

The exhaust is rather ugly now so currently fabricating a 3" one

Fair way off, few more cuts, few more welds. Going to be slight side exit. Will also paint the whole thing, bar the tip in 800c VHT matt black. Should look and sound good!

Saw this parked on the muddy verge outside your work the other day. Its even more of a beast in the flesh. Not stalking you or anything, I have customers at the top of the road, and its a very recognisable motor.
