Nice 1 mate, keep practicing on scrap bet it's a right laugh. I aint welded since I was an apprentice body repairer 15 years ago, even then they just had me welding the light guards and windscreen guards for GMP riot vans!

There's a **** load of vids on yootoob but you've gotta separate the wheat from the chaff I think

Fair point thought they work out roughly the same price i think, except the Syncro has other mods and upgrades to it.

Anyway! Had a few hours today so had a go at some welding!

Not too bad for my first go, didnt blow through so thats a bonus.

Beads look ok but need work.

The J is pretty strong, smacked it with a mallet n it didnt break until the 6th smack so not bad too. Thats with zero prep

What gas were you using? Suggest you turn up your gas flow a bit.

Wants to look a bit like this.

I won't bore you with me waffle but there are some great channels on the YouTube that will give you great tips Chuckee2009 & WeldingTipsAndTricks are my go to references when I am having a bad welding day and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Bad earth will do that to ya as well ;)

In Belgium the farm electrics were so bad when I first got there that only half the lights worked and only 2 out of 11 sockets worked, by the time I had finished we had 380V all round and 15 working sockets with isolators and I had replaced all the old fluorescent tubes with tin bodies to grp housings and LED replacements, it was fab to weld after that :)

Worked that out last year so if possible f-clamp earth peg down now...did welding at school 45yrs ago...bought gear last year to sort a p6 I bought as couldn't get someone else to do it...might post some pics next week depending on result!!...result for the farm for them having you around me thinks...

Can't you strip the door card from inside and see if you can make door catch open a bit wider than just the cable/linkage acting on it? May be able to manipulate the bag strap a bit easier with card off

Its free!!! Managed to yank the strap out with some mole grips. Door still didnt open...

20 mins of jiggling around and some gentle force popped open! Looks like the catch was FULL of dry grease/muck. Barely moved. Cleaned it all back and regreased. All good.

In other news ive got a fair bit of play in my rear prop UJs.

Lower one has play all over and a noticable clunk on take off. The front is ok but still has some play in it.

I replaced both 6 - 8 months ago, covered maybe 4k. On and off road however.

Seems a very short life span for GKN units! Greased up every 2 months.

Should I be looking at a Gywn Lewis prop? It is lifted but not a huge amount.

That's not good, can you do us a favour and try a set of genuine LR ones for a real world test?
