Continuing with the G4 scratch remover and some polish! Did the other side last night


Forgot to take shiny pics

Refitted the acoustic cover to the engine, been a LONG time since I've had one of these fitted


Going to leave it on for a couple weeks see if it actually makes a difference in noise levels....

In other news the second row/rear stainless carpet retainers arrived, currently not fitted as my carpet was wet so letting that dry off first.

Brake master cylinder also arrived, genuine LR as described, or at least as far as I can tell...

Plus off to France off roading in a couple weeks! Bought a new SLR Lens for the occasion!

Fitted the stainless threshes yesterday, decided to use them as a carpet retainer on the back, i think it looks pretty good! Bolts where only *just* long enough though!





One thing that is driving me a bit mad is the scratch remover/wax has burried itself into the various cheqeur plate and Raptor and very hard to remove! Making it look like the paint is flaking off

Have you tried heating the wax with a hair dryer? Should make it easier to remove with a bristle brush or at least smooth it out.

Good idea! Ended up jet washing it off... lol seems too have done the trick!

New master is on! Brakes bled! ABS Modulator bled!

WOW!

Been getting comments recently in the carpark, petrol station etc... People really seem to love it

Did get a fair bit done over the weekend. Brake master cylinder was a doddle to change, except working out where the o-ring goes. Haynes & workshop manual both useless saying "put it back together in the right place" Oh thank you Haynes I was going to fill it will jelly first

Either way got it in, bleeding however took much longer, half a day in fact. Powerbleed function on the Nanocom seemed utterly useless unless I was doing it wrong, which is easily possible.



The rears & front drivers side bled easily without issue, but the passenger driver side was tougher. When bleeding the pedal was very hard, I had to use a fair bit of force to depress the pedal and the fluid that came out was milky (guessing water contamination?) so I bled that through until I got new brake fluid. Then did the rest again to be sure, over all went through about 2L of fluid which is the capacity so it has been mostly replaced.

Brakes where still poor... I forgot to bleed the modulator which was a bit trial and error, there doesnt seem to be much online on how to actually do it bar 'Make sure all lines are closed (does that include the master cylinder?) and depress the pedal with force' did this several times and eventually got a much better pedal, at least 30% better. Though I think there is still room for improvement just not sure where to go from here. It stops, wheels lock up and it doesnt slide anywhere near as much as my 90 did.

I also flush fitted the dash speakers as the mrs kept knocking her knee on it simple job of whittling out the AC Dash, looks much better anyway! I never liked those MUD spacers...



12 aux socket housing arrived as well, so that went it quickly (needed rear power for a trip yesterday)




Going to move it further back so it's more out the way. That Waeco Mobilcool cool box is fantastic however! Luke warm water to ice could in an hour and kept some chiller blocks I added later 70% for the whole day. Left it plugged in for half a day while we where out and the battery dropped from 12.5v - 11.5v so smallish drop but I unplugged it then...

Thanks Took me a good year of searching. It wasn't perfect when I bought it but it was exactly what I wanted and right inside my budget.

Just won me some split frame rear seats! A whopping £30 only in Dover too. Though they will just sit in the garage while I save up to buy the nice rears from Exmoor Trim, with heaters of course! £328.80 for a pair of high back black vinyl heated rear seats.

Best bit? Plug and play loom to the current, unused heated front seat switches. Just have to move the switches to the rear doors and change the switch for a little rocker one

Did a few more lil bits last night

Corner protectors, I havnt carpeted them as the carpet I have is WAY too thick! So as is for now, may change in the future though.

Modified to allow for the Anderson



Moved the rear 12v to better location and added the second 12v socket


Secure point for me tool kit, rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it!


Grab handle to help me mrs get it more easily! Just had to dremmel in some curves so it sits more flush. Quite sturdy, I wouldnt hang off it but does the trick. May go for leather ones in the future


Annnnd! My uprated MAP sensor has arrived!! just got to wait for Jose to write a recalibrated map now... Then 26psi boost

Is that a knackered old Halfords advanced socket set case in your piccie?

If it is, then I can tell you a secret, the cases are also covered under the lifetime warranty. Seeing yours on your picture made me think of mine which also is missing a clip and has knackered hinges. So I phoned Halfords and asked the question, got told that they are covered! 5 minutes later in the local store and did get asked how old it was? "18 months , honest" then the old boy popped in the back and sure enough returned with a nice brand new case. Had to swap it all over there and then to let them have the old case back.

It is indeed! ahhh blinding!! That case is held together with velcro, tape and string! The hinge is snapped off at the rear, all the fasteners have gone and its full of gravel and dirt

As am I! Will be so nice to have a working case back! Which reminds me my 1/2" drive is dodgy (I think the mech is gone) and my 1/4 drive is missing a screw Christ if it didnt have the warranty id have been through at least 2 sets by now! Landys do kill tools haha

I wonder how much you have to ask to have replaced in one go before they just shrug their shoulders, just take you old one and hand you a new set????
