Strange problem this one!
2005 RR vogue had a broken passenger wing mirror when i got it. It has heating and electrochromatic glass. COuldn't get one cheap on ebay - so eventually paid a small fortune to get from dealer.
Unfortunately, as soon as it was fitted it went into dim mode (in daylight). I assumed i had made a mistake plugging it in however upon checking - it is a one way fitting and definately connected properly.
Stranger still, the mirroro stayed in dim (tinted) mode when disconnected from car. I had assumed the glass would be clear with no current and tinted when current applied, but perhaps it is on/off with memory like an ereader??
I am starting to think there is something wired incorrectly?
Also noticed i have "approach puddle lights" under both wing mirrors with good bulbs but don't operate properly. When car unlocked with remote - passenger side puddle light illuminates briefly then goes out. The car has a snooper fitted and wonder if whoever fitted it might have interfered with the wiring and short circuit somewhere, but dont really know anything about car electrics.
So not sure where to go from here. Have tried removing and replacing fuse for headlight autofold. Any other ideas? I have a multimeter if it helps.
Will have to take in to dealer if cannot resolve it and that could start to get expensive!
