what do you lot prefer a manual or a auto gearbox
on the lookout for maybe a disco but there seems to be a fair few autos about and iam not sure about having a auto, aways had manuals, seem complicated and expensive if they go wrong, are they as reliable as a manual box

thanks

Usually they are more reliable than manuals, especially as there is no clutch, and can protect the rest of the drive train. A bit trickier/expensive if they do fail

Like with so many things in life, I had been anti auto boxes in 4x4's - until I owned one !!!!!!!

I bought a Disco Tdi 300 auto and REALLY like it. I find it's nye on as good on fuel as the wife's tdi 200 manual and to be honest is a nicer drive. Tows surprisingly well too.

Only done a bit of light off-roading, 6-8 inches of mud only, and found that it coped remakably well.

No contest really - I am now converted, auto all the way. Plus they seem a bit cheaper to buy.

They are NOT quick however.

i have had my 300tdi auto for about 2 yrs i was anti auto box until i got this now love it and will stick with it

i have a manual 200tdi and love it, but.............if it was just road use then auto all the way. makes a much nicer cruiser.
