I seem to have to wait to warm up the engine before the gear box will fully engage. Doing 30mph at 3k revs can't be right! Had problems in snow with"M"&"S" gear icons lighting up together and reverse not engaging. Is this an electrical issue or mechanical? Need a disco mechanic near minehead/williton to help as my usual chap on hols for 3 months!! Please!

hi

don’t know much about D2 i’m afraid but first thing i would check is the ATF level and when it was last changed

I thought everyone knows that a D2s auto box fluid has to warm up before the box ecu decides to select 4th.
The info may even be in the owners handbook on holding lower lower ratios to aid warm up.

eh? is it taught in school....? i've had 2 D2's and i've never heard of that. mine have never had the above issues. it may hold gears slightly longer to aid warm up but not noticeable and certainly not to the point its doing 3000rpm at 30mph!
as gary said, check the gearbox oil first.

Only a level check plug on autobox. Check level with engine running as per owners book.
Must have a bad leak for that much missing. I'd be dropping the sump and swopping the filter as well when you know the fluid will stay put.

Thanks. Only had it since November. Now it drives better than ever so not sure how long its Been leaking. Hopefully got away with it. Comments always appreciated chaps
