after a long laning day on sunday,

come monday my auto box did not want to change out of 1st for about a mile.

concerned i may have got some water in it either from the laning or jet washing the engine afterwards i decided the change the ATF.

the atf was a dark red with lots of little bits in it.

so i see the options as

1, get a box from a breakers. question, how much should i pay?

2, send my box away for referb, question, how much and who to send it to?

3, referb the box myself, is there a list of parts needed anywhere and will i need any special tools?

what kind of bits?parts needed would depend on whats wrong ,you can build them with no special tools unless you need to remove piston springs

well the way i see it as i will have the box apart i may as well replace any of the items that may fail,

i don't know what they might be but i would of thought when a box is referbished there are a number of parts that are always changed.

I am looking for guidance as i have no idea, apart from the clutch parts that are falling apart.

what type of bits were in the oil ?how much do you want to spend ,usually clutch pack A ,clutch pack C free wheel clutch plus whatevers gone ,boxes are normally buggered or just components that have failed unlike other types of boxes ,

the bits all looked like small bits of clutch plate, no metal bits.

i have secured a box from ebay so i can swap it out over the weekend and then referb my box at my leisure, assuming the ebay box is ok that is.
