Hi All,

Very new to the forum and slightly confused!

I am off working in Ethiopia in August for 4 years. Wife and three kids coming to and I thought, I was settled on taking a LR Disco 4 with me.

However, lots of people have said to me LC or Defender, but not a techie based LR4.

Welll....

One of the reasons for choosing an LR4 was the auto box.

defenders are all manual. However you can install an aftermarket auto box, which I am told is 1, not cheap but 2, is very good.

Anyone any knowledge?

Wife will drive the car more than me and she really does not want a manual in Addis Ababa!

Comments very much appreciated.

regards.

depends putting an auto in a 300tdi defender is easy and cheap more expensive the newer you get

Most of the time car will be the family run around and driven by my wife through a very large and traffic jammed african city. So the auto makes life easier thats all. No other reasonthan that.
