I've just found out what OAT is. Is it better to use genuine LR stuff? This pink staff was in the new engine 2.5 years ago/15k miles.

I wondered about the OAT stuff but decided against it after reading up about it a little. Seams that it (could) cause some kind of internal corrosion if I remember correctly. Didn't think it worth the risk.

no but a good quality coolant wont harm it

Random question -why would my aux alternator be warm when the car hasn't been used since midday? It was used for two minutes and not moved since. Aux battery voltage is down to 11.56v!

It's done it again!

Moved the car on the drive - 50 feet max - and an hour later the aux alternator is hot again! As hot as day to day driving. Took off battery cable and it's cooled down and stayed cool when the cable went back on!

I reckon you've got a faulty alternator which is take juice out of the battery, which is why it's getting hot.

Sounds like it is a diode packed up causing the battery to drain.

First time, voltage dropped to 11.5, second time stayed at 12v+.

Does it make any noise when it heats up? The wiring isn't mixed up somewhere and the battery is trying to turn the alt when the relay turns off?

Nope. No noise. Been working and trouble free for yonks!

Been out this AM, fine. It's only done it on two 60 second runs.

Fine - 13.4 to 13.6. The same as when it was new.
