ever so anxious that it may be a let down having seen the photos of some of the beast defenders on the sites webpage. My td5 is stock other than being chipped and having new general grabbers on it.
I'm going to be with the site instructor and he seems confident in the cars capability which is good to know.
Any thoughts for my first outing? I'd welcome any help.

very capable vehicle even as standard ,traction control works by braking spinning wheels so you need to raise the revs to counter the effect of braking and to keep momentum up,auto or manual ?

It's a manual. The gearbox used to be ropey going from 1st to 2nd however it seems to be working well when I slow down on the gear shifts. Present the gear box. I imagine though it would be tje transfer box that is doing all the work off roading? I have only tested the transfer box on a normal road and never tested the hill descent. I am hoping it will all work!

I have a standard disco 2 v8 auto and have been amazed at how well it performs. I have some plans to improve my offroad capability but aa I'm new to the 4x4 scene as my confidence and experience grows I am slowly getting bits that will make the car better. :-D plus then the wife doesn't notice me spending a fortune in one go haha. Other than on fuel being a v8. Also mine previously being a Chelsea tractor i was amazed to find everything work hill descent the low range box no issues at all. :)

Thanks for the encouragement guys. As James knows, I have been working on this car for what seems an eternity but I don't regret a minute, I'm learning things about car mechanics that I could not even imagine. I question a lot of things but the wisdom on this site is a different class from say other car manufacturer forums I have been on.
I'm feeling more confident in the car and really pleased that the vehicle is getting to do what it does best and allowing me to start on a new skill set, something that I had never dreamed off.
I'm going to give the car a once over before I leave and make sure all the fluids are topped up and the car is empty of everything.
Should I take a tool kit or is just going to rattle around the car?

Personally I don't take a took kit in the back mainly as I don't want anything banging around in the back but bow you have mentioned it might be worth having a small socket set and ratchets or something in the back just incase. Have a good one :)

Well that was amazing. Loved it. I did have one problem though which was the three amigos reared their head again but only on the course. The code reader suggested a front left sensor but this thing was working ok on the regular road. Any thoughts welcome.

Just a few Shimsteriom. I wasn't prepared for shooting and would have ;loved some actions shots but that would have required me to get out the car too often and I was having too much fun.

Yup. i think the stuff we were doing today was mental! I think green laning would be fun especially if I can get some camping mixed in with it.

Yup. The car is amazing. It proved it is just not a chelsea tractor. I need to get it out again. I need to get the remainder of the chassis box sections welded and rust protected.

I was also amazed how well mine was off road too for a standard landy with just ATs fitted. Nice scenery in those pics and D2 looks nice too ;)
