I plan to insert a 200 engine, maybe Tdi, not sure yet.

Apart from there isn't as much torque going through the propshaft and the transfur case, what are the other benifits to having the high radio box and spending lots of money, over the High radio diffs from a disco or rangie?

and cons.

Personally I'd have gone for just a diff change if it wasn't for not being able to change them on a 109! Does seem expensive so I'll just see how it goes when ive put the 200 in

salisbury axles were allways 24 spline, and you can swap ratios in 109s,i would fit diffs in yours ive done it in my lightwieght and will do 85 ,not uphill ,3.54 diffs are a lot stronger and parts are standard 33% increase over 4.7,i found out when sorting out the snatch land rovers in northern ireland they had 4,7 diffs in defenders

Salisbury axles are not standard in civilian series LRs, at least 88". Only military had them, as far as i was aware.

Lol well when you need 1st low just to pull away up a serious hill offroad you will need it. If you drive trials you need it if you own a landrover and use it for what its built for you will use it. If you don't use it you may aswell buy a eurobox

Well Well Well 3 holes in the ground. We now know you do not take part in Trials comps because you Need 1st low box to be competitive.

yes seriously low box is still low enough

not saying it int low enough but you seemed to suggest you dont need low box:confused:

Wouldn't want to change mine as I often use low 1st in anger but then I do tow off-road.......I have an overdrive which gives me an extra 28% gearing on road and takes 1/2 hour to fit......K.I.S.S.......keep it simple stupid :D

I use first gear often when driving down steep slopes turning on the slope 90 degrees to get through the gate set halfway up the slope while sliding down and driving through the gate sometimes you Need low 1st to have full control. Heck I even changed my 90 to run 4.7 diffs because with 3.5 diffs low was too high with my tyres.
