i am in need of some new air springs. ive been trying to read about arnott bags. does anybody use the gen 2 bags? what are they like compared to dunlop? are they harsh or just firmer?

also what about gen 3 airbags? i believe these are firmer again?

are arnott just another company re-inventing the wheel?

i only use my P38 on road and like a nice ride. i have always had 7 series along side a range rover and realise i cant polish a turd, just trying to get a feel for some first hand experience. cost is irrelavant in this instance, but it will p*ss me iff no end if i buy arnotts and dont like them.....

I have Arnott IIs all round. Front and rear replaced about 18 months apart. Didn't notice any difference apart from delight that they weren't deflating like the old Dunlops but I'm not a driving enthusiast to the degree of noticing minor differences.

I believe that the IIIs allow for longer travel so probably for off road fanatics only.

I forget whether I got mine because they were cheaper or had a better record for long life.

I had Gen lll's on my last P38 for a good few years and approx 30k miles. Whilst the longer travel is often mentioned the other attribute of less body roll is often over looked.

For example I often get on the M25 at junction 18 going clockwise, which is quite a sweeping turn. In my old P38 I would quite happily take this turn giving it some beans, in my newer P38 which is fitted with original Dunlops (50k miles) I take the turn at the same speed but when looking out of the side window feel I'm looking more at the tarmac rather than the traffic I'm trying to merge with!!!

Whether they are worth nearly twice the price is debatable but I was lucky enough to source some at the same price as originals.

I never noticed any change in comfort and any new air spring will give a superior ride to a set of knackered ones.

As SV8 said I have Arnott Gen 2's all round. Personaly I think the ride is better but that might just be due to the old bags being hard. If you keep an eye on Ebay, P38 Spares have the Arnott Gen 2's for not much more than Dunlops, I think they are worth the extra for the lifetime warranty.
Gen 3's are a waste of time IMO unless you are a serious off roader.
