Another New Kid on the block

In April of this year, I purchased a 1999 Range Rover 4.0SE (Bosch/Thor) with the idea that I could flip it. Once I got it driveable, I decided to add this vehicle to my fleet and I enjoy driving it very much.

After having it towed to my house and pushed into my garage, I began the process of restoring this vehicle that suffered from gross neglect. Among the repair completed are:

Replaced the radiator
Replaced Thermostat
Replaced Water pump
Replaced Driver’s door regulator & window motor
Replaced Driver’s exterior and interior door handles
Repaired loose glass sound/rattle when closing left front door
Replaced Tires
Replaced heater core O rings
Removed, disassembled, and reassembled BeCM, ECM, and underhood fuse box
Replaced Head Gaskets
Removed front bumper and repaired AC fans
Mounted Running Boards (Side Steps) using “Rivnuts/Jacknuts/Nutserts”-whichever term you use.

These are the repairs that I can think of off-hand. The EAS had already been converted to Coil and I cannot imagine a smoother ride and I have owned many luxury vehicles. I have had fun roaming through salvage yards , harvesting parts from donor vehicles. I have only used the Land Rover dealership parts to order new door handle that was keyed to my vehicle and valve cover screws that I lost during the disassembly and a couple of O-rings. While I have worked on other vehicles, the head gasket project was a first for me and I gained the confidence that I could tackle most repairs.

I did join another forum and learned much about this vehicle from the members. However, I did find that site to be inhospitable and unwelcoming to newcomers. The site manager was very sarcastic, knew it all, and felt a need to comment on every post.

I have quietly viewed the posts to this site for about three months and I like the tone of the questions and responses. I have now decided to make yours my home forum and to share with you what I think I bring to the table, no discussion. I will ask for your help/thoughts when I hit the next wall. Thanks,
Erl

Welcome Erl. Sounds like you've been busy and got the dirty fingernails that's a necessity for owning a P38.
I can imagine a smoother ride than coils - air!
Shared knowledge/experience/f**k ups is what its all about.
This is an invaluable forum. :tea:
P.S. I joined because of the sarcasm.

:welcome2:

sit down, relax and watch the banter unfold :D:D

PS, stick your location on your profile. you never know how close you are to another member for or to give help :)

No do. But make it a petrol, lpg, diesel, bio poll

just what we need, another flippin colonial.

:D
Welcome to the fold, it's nice to hear about another Rangie being rescued, even if it's got the wrong engine and the steering wheel is on the wrong side.

Welcome from another Yank.
You seem a bit reasonable, so in my book you're on probation.
Reason has no place here. ;)

Good job on the rescue! Isn't it great that we can still afford to drive our V-8 GAS engines here in the States? :D
