Good luck for tomorrow Al (not that you need it!):)
Cheers, mate. Good of you to remember! A little bit of luck won't go amiss. I'm a bit concerned about the emissions. It's never had a problem before, but it was smoking a bit and the exhaust fumes smelt weird. I'm hoping it's just condensation and smell from the new exhaust and DPF. Also, the brakes were not as good as I'd hoped from refurbed front calipers and new back ones. Possibly iffy servo, a little air still in the system or just me being pessimistic! :) Either way, big day tomorrow. Been waiting two and a half years for it  :)

I will wish you good luck as well bud, not that you will need it, MOT time just seems to get us nervous, even when we know our work is over and above the standard, kind of strange really..

Good luck mate.

Thanks for all the good luck messages lads.

it passed! :D

Not sure how though! I'd mentioned the brakes being a worry. Well, the Mrs picked it up from the garage, because I was later back from work. First thing she said was that the brakes weren't right. There seems to be a sort of 'satellite delay' before the brakes start to take effect and it comes to a 'rolling stop'. I'm pretty sure I plumbed it in to the valve on the bulkhead ok. What symptoms would it give if plumbed in wrong? My first thoughts are the servo may not be working properly. I'll do a search on here and google servo tests, but can anyone suggest how I can check that the servo is working properly?
Something to sort at the weekend, hopefully.
BUT! I am over the moon :D The culmination of 2 years and 2 months work. It's a very nice feeling. :)

I told you luck would not be needed ;)

Well done, must be a great feeling.

Normally I'd say go out and get it muddy, but yours is so nice it needs to stay that way.
Credit where credit is due.

Cheers, Mark. That's very kind. I must admit I'm a bit iffy about getting it muddy. But, it has to happen sometime :)

Well, I've done a quick servo fault search on LZ and went out and tried a few test.
Put foot on brake and started her up. Felt nothing through the pedal.
Took the connector off the servo vacuum pipe and it looked ropey under the jubilee clip. Started her up and checked for a vacuum. Nothing. :( Manoeuvred the end of the pipe around a bit and felt it sucking! Split in the pipe I hoped.
Had a spare bit of pipe from the new fuel tank breather pipe, two new jubilee clips and took it out on the road. Much better.
Got the Mrs out of the house for the acid test. Mrs was over the moon with the new braking experience. I even got a hand shake! o_O

I am really chuffed now. The brakes were nagging at me.

I'll have to get a proper bit of pipe I should think. Don't know if that connector is a particular spec as opposed to fuel breather. I think the fuel breather was a touch too big a diameter anyway.

I'll sleep well tonight :D

Jealous, jealous, you ain't kidding I'm jealous :):)
Although I am getting prepped to make a start again on mine. It actually got some fresh air the other day as I have the workshop a tidy up and stocked the workshop fridge up with a few cases of Guinness in preparation for the re start. Reading people's build really does give you the kick up the jacksy I need. If it's half as good as yours when I'm done I'll be a happy bunny. :)

I'm having a celebratory Guinness tonight myself. :)
I'm sure yours will turn out fine. Keep your progress posted, I used that to put a bit of pressure on myself to get things done.

Well done mate bet your over the moon. What's your next project going to be?? If this one is the Wifeys Defender now you need to do another one for yourself ;)

Btw you where right about Ashtree not delivering Bulkhead on arranged date hey ho just means more time for me to get bits cleaned and painted.

Wifey has a plan for my next project. Relaying the drive! :(

My experience of Ashtree is that they were lovely to deal with on the phone, but either their organisation or systems for doing things let them down. I also got a 200Tdi bulkhead instead of a 300 o_O

Excellent - that's put the cherry on the top of the cake.
You'll have to find something else to do now.
I've got my Land Rover pretty much the way I want it and that's why I'm busy building walls in my spare time.
