Ok, Aaron here are some pics.
I haven't bothered with the dismantling pics or refurbishing the axles. Man handled the chassis out of the garage and sat it on the axles to day, so here are the pics as promised when I got to this stage.
Not sure about the red suspension parts and steering rods  Could be a bit bling for me.

Had the front shocks on, but took them off. Couldn't compress the bushes enough at the top to get the nuts on. Can someone tell me of I have the washers back on in the right order. The fitting instructions are worse than useless.

Looks good mate :)
I found I couldn't fit my top shock bushes until I had some weight on the front to compress the springs a bit.

+1 waiting to put engine in mine before I bolt shocks up.

Looks lovely that does, wish I had left my RC silver now:rolleyes::)

P.S. red bits should have been blue, lots better :)

Ha ha, there's more to life than blue! :D

Had son and bloke next door sat on the front, but not enough weight. It's reassuring to hear this is normal. They'll have to wait until the engine goes in! One of the studs on the drivers side turret retaining ring sheared off with virtually no torque on it (Britpart), so it's got to come off anyway.

I did contemplate painting the chassis as this had been recommended, but I took Aaron's lead and left it. I want to be able to see it too ;)

Any thoughts on the shocker washers configuration, or am I worry over nothing. I've tried googling images, but they are not very good. They are just Delphi de Carbons. Nothing glamorous

Shocker washers are different top and bottom I think, I sit and ponder this every time I fit them.
Self explanatory if you look at them long enough, bottom one holds the bush off the shock I think, some have bigger holes than others

Best I can do I'm afraid:)

Me too, initially. then decided to take front ones back off. Got distracted by neighbour trying to weigh it down enough to get nut on front ones and got had to resort to best guess to put them back on the shocker.
Rear ones have all washers on lower thread, cos top fitting is just rubber bushes on to the chassis mount. Instructions useless as to which washer to use on the top. probs makes no difference

Thanks for the good luck wishes, lads. I think I'll need a bit of that!

Greyhair - what make have you ordered? Mine is obviously a Richards and arrived in a few days!

Strange, I got mine through local Landy specialist and it arrived just a few days after ordering it.

I think next weekend I'll start cleaning the engine, gear and transfer boxes down with a view to painting them. Can't say I'm looking forward to it as I imagine it will be nails to get clean. I've got 5ltrs of Gunk. Panel wipe is much stronger - destroys latex gloves :(

Probably got a deal with Richards due to the amount of business they send them  Just a guess mind.

For public it's 6-8 weeks waiting time. Mine was as well,
But I told them I could do with it sooner and collected it after 2 weeks.

Will be a scruffy 'orrible job mate, Mine took ages and I striped them right back.
Got a jet wash?
Oh and forget the gloves if they're getting destroyed. I don't bother because I know they'll rip.
Will be worth it though. I didn't clean then engine and box on my first project and it looked crap.
Not that it'll stay clean long anyway

That's interesting, greyhair. Whoever supplies my local Landy specialist must keep one in stock. Ordered mine mid week and got it on the Saturday.

Been watching Ed China steam clean a G Wagon engine tonight. Not sure when the episode was made but he quoted £30 for hiring the steam cleaner. Looked effortless and quick! Always does on the telly  Might see if I can hire one this weekend. Heard of parafin sprayers you can get to attached to compressor are good too.

I just cleaned my engine and engine bay by putting gunk in the sprayer I bought for underseal last ear. Worked a treat. Got into all the places which would be hard to reach with a brush. Land Rover engines are also perfectly happy to be pressure washed, I've discovered, and it's very good at getting off the mixture of congealed oil and road dirt they seem to cover themselves with. Makes them a lot more pleasant to work on when they're clean too.

Yeah, think I'll revert to plan A, brush in Gunk and wash with very hot water. Might use the Karcher at some point.
